Untitled
A texas landscape series exploring the relationship between painting and photography. The compositions are inspired by traditional painting techniques focusing on symmetry, balance, and perspective.
Isolated Terrain
In this series, shot on 35mm film, I capture the untamed beauty of the isolated landscapes of Western Texas during the COVID-19 pandemic. I am interested in the emotional, physical, and mental response to open space. The stillness of the landscape and the sense of endless space creates a meditative experience. The series gradually guides the viewer through the unknown with each image progressing in detail and closeness.
Denton Duplexes
This typology series captures Denton's historical craftsman-style homes that have been transformed into duplexes surrounding Texas Woman’s University. I am interested in the preservation and repurpose of these once single-family homes and the character they provide the community.
Paused Spaces
Paused spaces, a typology series, captures the unused land owned by Texas Woman’s University. The lots are located in the surrounding suburbs of the University and have remained unaltered since the removal of the homes after purchasing the land. The lots were purchased between the years 2005 to 2010. I am interested in what TWU plans on using the land for and how their gradual ownership of the area will affect the community.
Enclosure
Enclosure is a self-portrait series that captures my emotional response to the COVID-19 lockdown of March 2020. Shortly before the pandemic, I moved into a small rental in Denton and I found myself overwhelmed by the process of unpacking and downsizing while adjusting to zoom-based learning as a studio art major.
Denton’s Lockdown
This series captures the cities response to the COVID-19 lockdown and how it impacted the community.
Sister
This series captures my and my sister’s close relationship through candid shared everyday moments.
